Almost 2,000 overseas companies have established operations on the Island of Ireland. They are a key driver of the economy employing over 200,000 people directly and many more indirectly.
Both IDA Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland continue to focus on seeking inward investment from top-tier corporations and companies within a number of high potential business sectors including Life Sciences (Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Technology), Financial Services and Information Communications Technologies (ICT). Entrepreneurship and Innovation within the region are also key to bringing knowledge-based products and processes to the world marketplace.
The NorthWest Now Zone has enjoyed a long-established reputation as a manufacturing Region particularly in the area of textiles. The Zone has shown it can adapt to change and today this industry base is transforming to high tech and high skill activity.
